Busy Saturday

Today turned out busier than I thought it would be, and it’s not even over yet. When my husband got back from worship team practice, I went to my church building to work on a bulletin board for CFS. It was my first attempt to do the big bulletin board, and I think it turned out cute! I also turned in my 2nd 9-week forms for homeschool, and made copies for next weeks lesson. After that, I went over to the library and checked out some books for Natalie and a cartoon about a dog visiting a farm. (we’re studying goats and farm animals in MFW) Then, I had the fun task of grocery shopping and it started pouring right before I got to check-out counter. Now, I’m making tea and I’ve got piles of laundry and cleaning to do, and brownies to make. We have a dinner guest tomorrow and I hate for the house to be wreck when people come over. Thankfully, my hubby will be helping me clean and do prep work for cooking tomorrow. We having Mexican – YUM, I can’t wait=)

Well, here it is, less than 5 days left before Christmas and I’m still not finished shopping. Every year I say that I’m gonna be finished by the first week in December, but that NEVER happens. I might as well stopping saying it. If I was a smart person, I would start a Christmas Club account. That way I could save all year, and actually be able to budget for Christmas gifts. Maybe one day I will be a smart person and become better at budgeting, saving and planning. Now, I get to cleaning and bake all day for our annual Christmas gathering at our house tomorrow. It will be a small family thang, but that’s ok. Everything is just off this year, and I don’t feel like doing a big shindig anyway. God bless us one and all!

I am SO tired of trying to figure out what to get my husband for Christmas. Boys are so hard to buy for. Especially, when they make such a short list for you to go by. I, also, have to shop for my girls for my mom. She was sick a few weeks ago w/pneumonia, and still trying to bounce back. So, she gave me money to buy her gifts for them cause she doesn’t feel like shopping. Don’t I have enough to do already??? Anyway, I’m ready to be done w/the shopping and just enjoy the beauty of the season.

~ The Lord protecting my children today when one walked out of the church building w/out me, and the other walked up the sidewalk and was about to step out into the street – WHEW!!! They wear me out=)

~ a nice warm fire in my fireplace

~ playing in what little snow we had on Monday

~ God healing my father-in-law and that he got to come home today

~ my mom giving me money to get a real Christmas tree

~ decorating my in-laws’ house for Christmas

I am so excited today. I called my best friend from high school because it’s her b’day. She is in the Air Force and is stationed in Italy. I haven’t seen her since last year (at Christmastime). We talked for 1 hour and 11 minutes=) It was nice. The last 2 times she tried to call me, I missed the call, and by the time I saw she called, I couldn’t call her back cause she was in bed. (They are 7 hours ahead of us) It’s always good to reconnect with someone who REALLY knows you and understands you. I love her! Now, if I could only relocate my family and myself to Italy……..

Those Darn Pecans!

After weeks of waiting for more pecans to fall from my trees, and just picking up a few here and there, I got a great (or crazy) idea today. I got my (outside) broom and started whacking the limbs on my pecan trees! It was rather tiring, but it worked. If any neighbors were peeping through their windows, I’m sure they got quite a few chuckles watching me. Natalie enjoyed watching the pecans fall and picking them up to put in her tweety bird bag. I know there are much more pecans waiting for me on top of our carport, but I don’t really want to climb up there by myself. And, by the time Daniel gets off work, it’s almost dark. Oh well, guess the squirrels will enjoy those;)
